BEIRUT (LEBANON), PART TWO
Here is Part Two of the Beirut pics. These are the pics of various ruins (mostly from the 1970s and 1980s). Part One has the "nicer" pics of Beirut.
First, the most famous building of Beirut, the Holiday Inn, open originally only a month before the beginning of the civil war in the 1970s...
Note proximity of the Holiday Inn to other buildings (including an upscale hotel to the right)...
A nearby small abandoned building...
Probably the tallest (but not the largest--that would be the Holiday Inn) abandoned building that I saw...
A couple of abandoned buildings near the harbor...
Another example of an abandoned building right next to a (newer) normal building...
Another abandoned building--makes for an interesting parking lot!
More "traditional" ruins (probably from the Roman era) downtown...
Interesting mix of old and new...
Mix shot--not sure if that crane is involved in the restoration of that building or its destruction...
All pictures were taken in April 2010 by Brandt Maxwell.
