MISCELLANEOUS PHOTOS FROM GEORGIA AND ARMENIA

Here are a few more pictures, not associated with any of the other cities or regions already featured...

First of all, a Georgian meal with lobio (bean soup), mchadi (corn bread), an eggplant dish and a salad with very sweet tomatoes and onions...

From Armenia, here's a pomegranate/walnut spread with pita bread (more of a Middle Eastern dish--but due to the Armenian diaspora further south in Lebanon and Syria a lot of Middle Eastern food is popular in Armenia)...

Here's a highway in the far north part of Armenia (near the border with Georgia)--with a railroad bridge...

A little further south (about half way between Armenia/Georgia border and Yerevan) where it becomes drier...

A highway in a relatively flat part of Georgia, about 30 miles north of Tbilisi (along the road to Kazbegi)...

Mountainous areas further north are covered in the Kazbegi section.

It's often difficult to take pics from the minibus, but occasionally there are "opportunities" to take good pics on the road, such as when the minibus has a flat!

This flat occurred a little east of Zestafoni in middle-western Georgia...

Homes in the countryside here...

A fig tree along the highway (these trees are very common in Georgia, and so are the fruits at fruit stands)...

A small town (Chumateleti--with easy phonetic translation between the Georgian and English on the sign) a little further east where buses stop for a lunch break called...

A Georgian railroad crossing (in western Georgia). It's notable that each major railroad crossing is manned (and the gates come down much earlier than in the US when a train comes--a couple minutes before!)...

The actual train going through a couple minutes later...

Finally...one last view of the Georgian countryside (in the mountains of middle-western Georgia)...
