Bonus List
MOST POPULOUS COUNTRIES WITHOUT A MAJOR INTERNATIONAL CHAIN HOTEL
Most countries (even ones like Burma, Cuba or Mauritania) have at least

chains below). However, some countries, isolated either by their government,
war and/or poverty, do not have any major international chain hotels. Here
are the largest ones:
1. Iran
2. Congo (Dem. Rep.)
3. Sudan
4. Afghanistan
5. Iraq
6. North Korea
7. Malawi
8. Niger
9. Angola
10. Belarus
Hotel chains surveyed: Accor (inc. Sofitel, Mercure, Ibis, Motel 6, etc.), Best
Western, Cendant (inc. Days Inn, Howard Johnson, Ramada, etc.), Choice (inc. Comfort,
Quality, etc.), Hilton, Hyatt, Intercontinental (inc. Holiday Inn, among others),
Marriott, Radisson and Starwood (inc. Sheraton, among others).
